Answered: Data Roaming

can some please explain to me what data roaming is.
I have been given a galaxy S while i wait for my Desire HD to arrive.
I am on T Mobile but have registered to share the Orange network.

Should i turn data roaming on and just leave it on????
Will i be charged any extra for this,

please help this newbie
